IELTS Course Fees in Bangladesh — the Full Cost

The advertised fee is rarely the whole fee. Here is what an IELTS course costs in Bangladesh in 2026 — the ranges you will see, the four extras that are usually not in them, and how to add it all up before you commit.

The short version

What you are paying forTypical range in Bangladesh
Group IELTS course (full programme)৳8,000 – ৳20,000
One-to-one / intensive coachingHigher — quoted per hour or per package
Foundation / pre-IELTS English courseVaries widely; often similar to an IELTS course
A single marked mock testCharged separately by most centres
The IELTS exam itselfSet by the British Council / IDP — check their sites

Confirm every figure before you rely on it. These are the ranges commonly seen in 2026, not fixed prices. Centres change fees, run seasonal offers and quote differently for morning and evening batches.

The four extras that are usually not in the advertised fee

The gap between a poster and a receipt is almost always one of these four. Ask about each one by name, before you pay.

  • Mock tests. Often sold separately, and often the largest extra. You want at least two full sittings before your real exam. At three or four hundred taka each that is fine; at fifteen hundred it changes the total noticeably.
  • Material. Books, printed practice sets, "premium" question banks. Ask whether they are included and whether you keep them.
  • Registration or admission fee. A one-off charge on top of the course fee. It is not hidden, exactly — it is just never on the poster.
  • Repeating the batch. If you are not ready at the end, what does it cost to do it again? Some centres let you repeat free once; some charge full price. This is worth knowing on the day you enrol, not the day you need it.

How to compare two courses honestly

Two courses at the same price are not the same purchase. Work out the cost of the thing you are actually buying, which is a teacher's attention.

  1. Take the total fee including every extra above.
  2. Divide it by the number of live classes.
  3. Then divide by the number of students in a batch.

Made-up numbers, to show the method: a ৳12,000 course with 30 classes and 12 students works out at about ৳33 per student per class. The same fee with 20 classes and 45 students is ৳13 — which sounds cheaper until you notice you are buying a seat in a hall, not a teacher.

Then ask the question the arithmetic cannot answer: how many times will somebody read something I wrote and tell me what to change? For most Bangladeshi students the half band that is missing is in Writing, and Writing is the one skill that does not improve by being explained at. It improves by being marked.

What BayRen charges, and what is in it

Published in full, because a fee you have to ask for is a fee that moves.

CourseFeeWhat is included
IELTS Master Course ৳10,500 2.5 months · 30 live classes · 8 support sessions · 5 mock tests · all material. No registration fee, no extras.
IELTS Foundation Course ৳14,000 12 online live classes rebuilding the English underneath your band, for students not yet ready for exam technique.
Speaking, Writing, Business English, General English, Conversation Club Ask Group and one-to-one formats. See the courses page and message us for the current fee.

The five mock tests are worth pricing separately in your head, because at most centres they are an extra. They are full computer-based sittings on mock.bayrenedu.com, with Writing and Speaking marked by a person and a band with reasons at the end.

The exam fee is not a course fee

This catches people every year. The IELTS test itself is booked and paid for through a test centre — the British Council or IDP in Bangladesh — and no coaching centre sets or controls that price. It changes, and it is significant: for most students it is a larger single payment than any month of coaching.

Two consequences worth planning around:

  • Budget for it separately, and early. A student who spends everything on a course and then cannot afford the exam has bought nothing.
  • Do not book the exam before you are ready. Retaking costs the full fee again. One extra month of preparation is far cheaper than one extra sitting. This is the single most expensive mistake in IELTS preparation in Bangladesh, and it is made for the same reason every time — a deadline that felt further away than it was.

The free route, said plainly

Not everybody needs to pay for a course, and it would be dishonest to write a page about fees without saying so.

BayRen's six practice apps are free: the Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking, Vocabulary and Grammar apps are free too, and so is the five-minute level test.

Work with those for a month. If your band is moving, keep going and spend your money on the exam instead. If it has stalled — and for most students it stalls in Writing — that is the moment a course is worth paying for, and you will know exactly what you are buying rather than guessing.

Why the same course costs different amounts

Three things move the price more than quality does, and knowing which is which stops you paying for the wrong one.

  • Where the room is. A centre paying Dhanmondi or Gulshan rent charges Dhanmondi or Gulshan prices, and some of what you pay is the address. That is not dishonest — the rent is real — but it is not teaching. It is also the reason an online course from the same organisation is often cheaper for the same syllabus.
  • Batch timing. Evening and weekend batches are what working students and job holders want, so they fill first and are priced accordingly. If your schedule is flexible, ask about a morning batch before you assume the advertised fee is the only one.
  • Season. Enrolment spikes after results and before the intake deadlines for the autumn and January university terms. Fees are firmest then. Quieter months are when offers appear — and, more usefully, when batches are smaller.

What barely moves the price at all, in either direction, is how good the teaching is. There is no reliable relationship between fee and outcome in this market, which is precisely why the arithmetic above matters more than the headline number.

Two students, two totals

Made-up people, realistic sums — to show how differently the same goal can be funded.

Shopnil, Dhaka, targeting band 6.5 for a UK master's

His English is decent; the problem is that he has never written a Task 2 essay under time. He spends a month with the free Writing app, discovers his essays come back with the same three faults every time, and enrols on a full course for the marking. His total: one course fee, one exam fee, and the mocks that came with the course. He sits the exam once.

Nusrat, Sylhet, targeting band 6.0 for a college in Canada

There is no centre near her running the batch she needs at a time she can attend, so the real comparison is online or nothing. She takes an online course, uses the free Speaking app between classes because she has nobody at home to practise with, and sits two mock tests before booking anything. Her total is a course fee plus the exam fee, and the travel she did not spend is not a saving she notices — but it is the reason she finished the course at all.

The pattern in both is the same and it is the only budgeting advice that really generalises: spend nothing until you know what is broken, then spend on that. Diagnose first — the free level test takes five minutes — and buy the fix, not the package.

Questions to ask before you pay anything

  • Is this the complete fee, including material and mock tests?
  • Is there a registration or admission charge on top?
  • Can I pay in instalments, and does that change the total?
  • If I have to stop halfway, what happens to the money?
  • If I finish and I am not ready, what does repeating cost?
  • How many students will be in my batch — the real number, not the maximum?

The answers matter, and so does the willingness. A centre that answers all six in one WhatsApp message is telling you something about how it will handle a problem in week seven.

A realistic total to budget

For a student in Bangladesh preparing properly for one sitting, plan for three things, in this order:

  1. The exam fee — the largest single item, and non-negotiable. Confirm the current amount with the British Council or IDP.
  2. A course, if you need one — ৳8,000–20,000 depending on where and what format, all-in.
  3. Two or three marked mock tests — included in some course fees, extra in others. Do not skip these. A first sitting that is your first ever full timed test is a wasted exam fee.

And keep a little back. The most common unbudgeted cost in IELTS is the second attempt, and the surest way to avoid it is to not book the first one too early.

Questions people ask

How much is an IELTS course in Bangladesh?

Group courses generally run from about 8,000 to 20,000 taka for a complete programme, with one-to-one and intensive formats higher. Fees change and vary by batch timing, so confirm the current figure before you rely on it. BayRen's IELTS Master Course is 10,500 taka for 2.5 months, all-inclusive.

How much is the IELTS exam fee in Bangladesh?

The exam fee is set by the test centres — the British Council and IDP — not by coaching centres, and it changes. Check their own websites for the current figure rather than trusting a number on a coaching centre's page, including ours. Budget for it separately from any course fee.

Is there a cheaper way to prepare than a course?

Yes, and it works for some people. BayRen's six practice apps are free, so self-study costs nothing but the exam fee. What free material cannot give you is somebody reading your Writing and hearing you speak, which is where most students lose their half band. Try the free route first and pay for a course when you can see what you are not fixing alone.

Do I have to pay the whole course fee at once?

That depends on the centre — ask. At BayRen, message us on WhatsApp and we will tell you the arrangement for the current batch rather than making you guess.

Why is BayRen's Foundation course more expensive than the IELTS course?

Because it is a different job. The IELTS Master Course teaches exam technique to somebody whose English is already there. The Foundation Course rebuilds the English underneath, which is slower work with more individual attention. If you are not sure which you need, take the free level test — it will tell you, at no cost.
